Federal Tax Credits:

  • Furnaces with an efficiency of 95% or higher receive $150.00.
  • Furnaces with an ECM (variable speed) motor receive $50.00.
  • Air conditioners with an efficiency of 16 SEER and 13 EER o higher receive $300.00.
  • Heat pumps with an efficiency of 15 SEER and 12.5 EER or higher receive $300.00.

Michigan State Tax Credit:

You must purchase a furnace that is over 90% efficient in 2011. Your adjusted gross income must be equal to or less than $37,500 for single filers to qualify for a $75 tax credit and under $75,000 for joint filers to qualify for a $150 tax credit.

**The tax extender package reinstates the lifetime credit caps which disqualify any homeowner who has claimed more than $500 in 25c tax credits since January 1, 2005, from any further credits (ie. Windows or insulation).

DTE and Consumers Energy Rebate:

DTE is offering a $200 rebate to their consumers who purchase a 95% efficient furnace or higher and $20 for a programmable thermostat.

    Consumers Enegy is offering:
  • Furnaces with an ECM (variable speed) motor receive $100.00.
  • Air conditioners with an efficiency of 15 SEER receive $150.00
  • Air conditioners with an efficiency of 16 SEER receive $250.00.
  • Programmable thermostats receive $10.00.

DTE and Consumers Energy rebates are valid for equipment installed and paid for by January 31, 2011.
